This is a book firstly about interpersonal communication and is helpful for raising children, managing family life, business management, and other areas.
The information in the book also sheds light on the discovery and resolution of communication conflicts. The book arises from inside of Turkey and uses examples and insights from Turksih culture. Thus the information is especially helpful for people who work with or live with Turks. Secondly, it helps, using a new technique to analyze Turkish culture. Turkish people generally are afraid to use their minds and to exercise their individualism claims renowned professor and popular psychology writer Üstün Dökmen.
To test this claim, the book studies cultural products, especially those of rhyme in Turkish poetry is compared with the traditional Turkish way of raising children. Two perspectives of a miniature painting are compared with the relationship between the Turkish government the people it governs and the hospitality Turkish show their guests. Thirdly, the book shows a new and understandable model for undrestanding communication conflicts and empathy. With all these features, the book could be interesting for people who are interested in psychology, literature, history of art and, of course, for foreign people who interact deeply with Turks. The book will give new perspectives on these subjects.

Yaşam Öyküsü
1954 yılında İstanbul'da doğdu Ankara Cumhuriyet Lisesi'nden mezun olunca, Hacettepe Üniversitesi Psikoloji Bölümü'ne devam etti. Halen, Ankara Üniversitesi Eğitim Bilimleri Fakültesi'nde öğretim üyesi olarak görev yapmaktadır. Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik Alanında doktora yapan Prof. Dökmen; bilimsel makale, şiir ve tiyatro konularında eserler yazmıştır. TRT'de '' Küçük Şeyler '' adlı programı sunan yazar, okul arkadaşı olan Doç. Dr Zehra Yaşın Dökmen'le evli.
